Here's the latest from Evelien and Laura:
Three days passed since we started our
survey on the Fuji lakes. Lake Yamanaka is finished now! The acquisition of
seismic lines began with several difficulties, such as a breakdown of the
vessel engine, a poorly cooperating generator, a local pilot who had to adjust
to a (for him) completely new way of navigating his boat into straight lines.
However, finally we were able to get some nice seismic profiles, ready for more
interpretation concerning lake dynamics, sedimentation rates, volcanic
influences etc.

Finally we managed to get some straight lines. We also succeeded to core five different locations within the basin of Lake Yamanaka. Now we can use our experiences on the field in order to facilitate the coming part of the survey. Next stop: Lake Motosu!
